Snyders Inserted Rods
Planning on building a decent touring motor for my 29 Special Coupe. Going to use Snyders pistons, ss valves, 1 piece guides, self locking adj lifters, B cam, counterweights, the only thing I can't decide on is what inserted rods to use.
Snyders offers some rods that have the bearings wrap around the edges of the rods like the babbit rods do. http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/5590 The other rods from Snyders are just your basic style bearings. http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/4986 This motor will be going in front of a stock trans with 3.54's. Just wanted some opinions on the matter. What advantages/disadvantages would one bring over the other since the first set provides forward and backward thrust likes the babbited rods. |

Re: Snyders Inserted Rods
The first link is for Snyder's inserted rods but the second link is for the inserts only and fit AER rods only. I find either type of rods are good but have used AER rods more. The price is comparable.

Re: Snyders Inserted Rods
I have used both. Both worked good. I like the AER rods, there is no need for a wrap around insert. Modern cars use the rods with no wrap around.

Re: Snyders Inserted Rods
While I have not used the Snyder rods yet, I have used the Antique Engine rods on several engines and they have held up well. The engine in the sedan has around 30,000 miles on it and is using the Antique Engine rods. If you use the Snyder rods would you let me know how they work?
