Default 29 Roadster body blocks

How thick is the rubber that goes under the blocks??? The rear-most blocks have a taper cut into it on one corner ---which way does it face. I get my body next week!!!!
Sorry,, it is a 28 Roadster

Bob,
I don't remember any taper cut on the body blocks on my 28 roadster. Tudor sedans and phaetons had tapered cuts in the rear body blocks. You should be using the long rearmost body blocks, as they distribute the car body weight much better than the short blocks. If you post a picture of the tapered body block, it would be helpful. I believe Ford typically used corded rubber pads that were about 3/16" thick. Old conveyor belt material works well for the rubber pads. BTW, the rubber pads that most model A parts suppliers sell are not correct, they are too thin and don't have cording in them. It would be better to make your own. Give me a call if you don't understand what I am describing.

not to contradict Rusty, and we may talking about apples and oranges, but the body blocks on mine for the middle parts of the par did in fact have tapers on them, which I thought was to clear rivets on the body sills. I certainly agree with what he says about the rearmost body blocks.

Ericr,
I think he was referring to the rear most body blocks, if I read his post correctly. I think he might have tudor or phaeton rear body blocks, as they do have a tapered cut out to clear the fender well. I have a 29 phaeton and that is the type of body blocks used on the rear crossmember. I agree, there is a tapered body block in the center, but the taper is horizontal not vertical like the tudor and phaeton rear body blocks.
