Some pictures of the body and frame back from the media blaster. Note - there is body cancer in the usual places on the body.

Pictured is the present status of my 1953 F100. Note the missing transmission. The missing transmission is the only piece of the drive train I need. The missing tranny is a 3 speed OD unit. I believe the Ford part number is TAAA - 7003 - A

BigskyJim, An additional welcome to the Barn group.. My daughter has a large farm outside of Denton, she is also a CPA in Lewistown, drives the 40 miles between Lewistown and Denton several times a week.
I have had a considerable amount of experience with the '50 model F100's, have two '59 F100 4x's sitting out at my daughters place near Denton, and a '59 F100 4x here in CA.
I have a '52 F5 V8 grain truck with less than 40k on the odometer also sitting on the Denton farm.
I generally get up to Denton about three times a year..

Big sky,
Welcome! I like your truck. Very nice work getting the blasting done and starting to build it back up!
Regards,
Chris

Very cool truck, The three and over will be worth its weight in gold with fuel prices being what they are. I overdrive all my old rides. Your trans should be the same through 1957 if my memory bone serves me right. The car version will work but the truck was tougher. They are far superior to the later so called overdrives. The overdrive is 30.3% compared to 15% that the later ones that many like to butcher in are. Your truck came with 4.11gears (unless it was ordered with lower yet like 4.50's) so in over drive you end up with 2.86 gears. This makes cruising at 65 or 70 easy. Do you have any of the controls? Tim

Many people are not aware of the fact that vehicles that came from the factory with OD's were equipped with lower than normal gear ratios in the rear end.. The overdrive made up for the lower gearing.
Many of the newer members of the old car world are not aware of the gearing difference, they put OD tranny's in their late model vehicles and can't figure out why the thing won't run on the open road.

Thanks for the info. When your in Denton PM me and we can meet. I live on the east side of Pine Meadows golf course so I am only 1-1/2 miles outside of Lewistown of the Spring Creek road to the fish hatchery.

Can we get some clear detail pictures of the front engine mount area please, I think I have the correct front bracket piece that goes between the cross member and the water pumps. And am not certain if I have the correct water pumps yet either. Thanks in advance.

Wecome. If you can tackle a restoration and have the perseverance to follow through with it you can just about do anything. There is more to learn building a vehicle than a house. Threr is so much satisfaction doing it yourself and you will be able to answer any question somebody has about your vehicle.

When I was about 18 the neighbors' son who was older than I had a 1953 F-100 pickup he was putting a 289 in. He fired it up in the driveway and had a big fuel leak at the carb, he panicked and pulled the coil wire to kill the engine, It almost killed the entire pickup. He beat out the flames with a blanket. Ever since then when I do a new engine startup I first roll the car out of the garage. If that pickup had been in the garage, it would have lit all that junk in the rafters above it and burned the house down. Later we had an earthquake and all that stuff fell down on his dad's 68 Mustang and screwed it up. So now I don't store stuff above cars here in CA.
