Here ya go Carl. This tool works great on '30-31 Hubcaps with the ten tabs. When five of the tabs are bent properly the hub cap snaps on to the wheel. I have never lost one. No silicon, rubber bands, glue, etc...

My truck has 16s, and did not have hub caps, ordered new and I think they were Vintiques, tabs came pre-bent in the Wave shape. Explains why I was having a problem understanding why people have problems getting theirs off,
mounted on by actually bending the tabs over.

Thanks, makes a lot more sense now.

I did not see this discussion and separately created a theread on the benefit of adding hub caps directly to the front hub. It concerned me that when I removed a roadwheel, the greased hub bearing did not have a cap over it.

I assume the rubber O-ring is to provide a seal or is it just an anti-rattle device? I now see thanks to a reply from bucket-o-rust that Snyders has available part no. A-1138 which is a cup which covers the bearing as in later cars.

Have many of you used this? Thoughts?

The O rings are just anti-rattle. As for the caps, if you think you need them use them.
