Re: Miss fire
Mail man dropped it off a few minutes ago.
Off to the machine for a inspection: Point gap looks and checks good. Adapter plate is properly mounted. Checked point operation with ohm meter etc Mounted the unit on Allen tester. Spun the unit with load , dwell on each set of points was perfect! Idles at 500 to 600 rpm =perfect!!! Reved it up to 2000 and "shit" it only has part of the cylinders firing !!! Needs all eight arrows to be good.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grabbed my test vertex condensor with jumper leads , hooked it to case and power and all eight cylinders fire!! Removed condensor and used a condensor load tester , condensor shows a little week on capacity but actually passed the test, until i did it two or three times !!!!!!!!!! Now i feel bad for sure, its back in the box and back out to graderman !!!!! I can only assume the condensor came with the adapter ?????? |

Re: Miss fire
It looks like we might have to make our own condensers sooner than later. It's a real shame that with all the technology we have today that it is so difficult to make such a simple old tech part.

Re: Miss fire
If youre not concerned about how stuff look...get a capacitor meant for inductionheating stoves.
1200v rating comes in .2 to .47uF values and cost $2 a piece. But it shure doesn´t look right with a grey square plastic package. But they work great !! Last edited by flatheadmurre; 05-03-2016 at 02:06 PM. |

Re: Miss fire
Thank you so much for such a quick turn around. I will choose my words very carful, with that said many years ago when these old cars were affordable for us here on the farm to learn how to drive we would keep them running . Thanks again Graderman!!
