January 1928 Engine
I thought something was wrong with the engine number I was looking at. It was A11005. so I looked it up anyway and found it to be a January 1928 engine. I did not realize numbers started with A1. Is there more value to an early engine like this?

Re: January 1928 Engine
The numbers do not start with A1, They start with A, 11005 is the number!

Having said that, Ron in Quincy asks a valid question as to whether that number has the star on both ends because it could possibly be *A11005_* where the last digit and ending star are no longer visible. Might be worth a second look... Deron |

IF there are more "unreadable" numbers after that, then it is a February 23, 1929 production engine (A1096779-1101382) and the engine number pad should be 3-1/4 inches long. Pluck Last edited by Steve Plucker; 10-06-2010 at 09:10 AM. |

Re: January 1928 Engine
Engine A1 wasn't released to assembly until Nov 1, 1927.

Re: January 1928 Engine
Well checked again and it must be a restamp, no stars anywhere. But the cylinders look great, no ridge at the top. It looks to be a good engine.
