Mallory distributor question
I helped a friend put a new engine in his A. He decided to use the Mallory dual point distributor that was on the old engine. When I put the distributor in the new engine, with #1 at TDC via timing pin, the rotor was not pointing to the #1 pole on the cap. It was not a 180 degree issue. I could not figure out how/if there is a way to adjust where the rotor is set. I took the distributor apart and still could not figure a way to adjust it. I ended up moving all of the spark plug wires around. Other than taking off the valve cover and rotating the distributor/oil pump drive gear is there a way to adjust where the rotor is pointing on a Mallory dual point distributor ?

Re: Mallory distributor question
On mine the rotor was facing what would be number 4 on a model a distributor, I just changed the leads to suit. Once it is running I use a timing light and it only takes a couple of minutes to get it right on the money.

Re: Mallory distributor question
I ended up doing the same thing. But I was curious if there was a way to change the location of the rotor without taking the valve cover off.
