Clem, I assume the seat is sliding on tracks. I have found that if you just put the seat mounting parts together without aligning them, they will be bound up when you tighten the bolts. Loosely assemble the seat base and mounting parts and then slide and shift the tracks to be sure there is smooth movement through out the travel. I also remember that if you have bolts that are not the correct length or over tightened they can impede movement. I hope this helps, Ed
