Mine are the dark purple also. They let very little light through. I picked up a set on ebay just to inspect. They were very dark also. I shined an led pinlight from the back and they didn't let much light through either. I am told that these "filters" darken with age. I was also told that someone in the '49-'53 Club has been working on reproducing a replacement for these. Perhaps John Treadway in Lima, OH can "shed some light" on this. I would be interested also.
