Default Re: 48-52 truck driveshaft color

Looking in the V8 club book for the 49-51 passenger cars it notes that rear axles were black, front suspension components were a mix of pre painted black and black oxide finished components and that driveshafts were raw steel. Being that F1s at least, and perhaps some other larger sizes of commercial vehicles, were produced on the same assembly lines, it seems logical that similar steps, procedures, and finishes would be used between cars and trucks.

That said, contemporary factory photos and color photo based advertisements appear to show the drive shafts (at least on F5 and larger trucks) as being black, leaf springs being oil finish, shackles/pins being raw finish, and grease zerks being cad plated.

Does anyone know for sure?
