See if it will keep running if you pull the choke half way. If it does you may have a vacuum leak in the manifold. My doodlebug is acting up like that but it will keep running if I pull the choke or spray WD-40 in the carb. With mine I have a broken ear on the carb. mounting surface which wasn't noticeable at first. When it cooled off it would restart and run a few seconds then quit when it got hot.
