I see what the OP is trying to accomplish now. The 1936 & later banjo hubs used the smaller 68 series bearings and the 68-1236-A bearing sleeve. They also had a protective washer that fit under the sleeve to prevent the bearing from wearing against the hub. I'm not sure if the hub needs work to fit the sleeve or if the protective plate would fit since I just found good hubs to replace the OEM model A ones and used model B large bearings to repair my old worn out ones.

Those 68-1236-A sleeves should be available.
