I would take $50k in a heartbeat, wouldn't have to think about it. I paid $6.5k for mine and have spent several hundred hours getting it running right. I can't imagine that I have anymore than $2k in parts in it.
Only thing I can't do is paint. But even paying someone to put a fresh paint job on mine, I'd still be well into the green on that deal.
If you're paying a shop to restore, yea you'd lose money. But, if you can find an older restoration for less than $15k and do your own work, you'll turn a profit selling it at that price
