You could try the rope seal that is used in the front. Maybe more than two pieces. The modern rope seals are Teflon impregnated so they last longer. You may have to cut down the size of the front seals. You can also buy lip seals that are in two pieces. Try the ones that are used on small block Chevy V8's.
