Re: old VW crash pic

Can't say I can recall utility poles on both sides of the street in my America. Street lights in the city for obvious reasons, but not utility power poles. Maybe it is a regional thing. How about one...

Re: Radial Or Bias Ply Tires

Don't seem like that great of a deal Mike, the radials could have been had for less..... The tubes and rim liners have been delivered, and the tires are scheduled to arrive this Saturday...

Re: Radial Or Bias Ply Tires

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I recall removing these types of markers from tubeless tires that had them on the region that the bead seats on. My concern with them was that they could...

Re: Differential vent

Gear boxes need to be vented, that seems pretty simple. The one I installed is for that same intended purpose, lightly spring loaded to prevent any foreign substances entry, while not allowing any...

Re: Stripped Model A engine block weight = 95 lbs

For sure with the casting variations, maybe it truly does only weigh that little, but it surprises me. Usually scales like gauges are more accurate at mid range in this case 500#. I would not expect...

Re: Differential vent

For a "in the car" add on it would be easy to put it in the fill port like you say, I don't know if you would have an issue with oil spinning off of the ring gear and exiting the vent cap however. I...

Re: Stripped Model A engine block weight = 95 lbs

What is the capacity of the crane scale? Could it be for normally weighing much heavier loads and not reading accurately on the low end? 95 pounds seems a bit on the light side, just bought a...

Re: Valve Seat inserts

Forgot to mention I used to use liquid Nitrogen (boils of at -320 DegF at sea level) to chill the inserts and they would drop in mostly on their own. Liquid carbon dioxide would probably work and is...

Re: Help “A” guy out.

And if they did not, the difference in the overall diameters would cause the side gears to continually rotate to compensate if that were the case. Like continually turning a corner, needless to say...

Re: Help “A” guy out.

The spring mounting shackles on these cars are known to wear through their mountings, actually allowing the spring eye to contact the axle housing(s). I have seen this on my own car and would suggest...

Re: Henry and Edsel

Bennett wore a bow tie because he knew the venerability of the neck tie and was not about to offer the shortcoming of it to the other guy he was fighting with.

Without a doubt it would have been, Edsel pointing out in the early 20s, how the competition (Chevrolet) was producing a superior car to his beloved Model T, was taken as blasphemy by Henry. The...
