Re: Second gear
The first diagnostic of any clutch-transmission problem is the depress the clutch fully, and sloooooly move the shifter into 1st gear. If there is interference, ie, some sort of grinding, first check...

Re: Oil Pump Shaft
I had the A shaft turned down, and opened up the oil intake port on my speedster engine. Works fine. Increased the running oil pressure to around 5 lbs warm. Honestly, I dont know if it does any...

Re: Fuse blowing
[The lights won't affect the fuse if they are off. The dash light can be an exception depending on type. The wire can rub up against the fuel tank in some situations. The brake light is another one...

Re: Pressurized center main bearing?
Piraino's Parts has a very handy kit that taps into the oil passage. Kit includes the tap. The advantage of his kit is that the vibration for the line and block are the same. Cheap too....

Combustion chamber looks like a repo Winfield I have. Hard to tell the CR without ccing the chamber but it looks bigger than the 7-1 Winfield. Just a WA guess, somewhere around 6-1. Don't really...

Re: 97 vs 94

Re: What can be gained by a 6.0 head?
I have a 6.0 head and a B cam. The power increase is noticeable and handy to have for going up hills and a more accelleration which is good at stops. I do not believe the head without the cam would...

Re: Adapter Kit.. ‘39 trans to A/B engine.
I think most parts are interchangable 32-39. I have a mix and match with a 37 case, 38 gear set, 39 synchro. I have the 39 gearset which came in the 37 case when I bought it but I liked the 38 ratios...

Re: Leaf spring confusion
You can do a fair job of lubricating the springs by jacking up the car by the frame rails until the wheels are off the ground. I squirt in some graphite that is used to lubricate key locks. You know,...

The US started date codes in 1971. The codes changed over time but it can be found by Google. I bought a 29 RPU with cracks in the tire sidewalls even though the tread was good. Figured time for a...

Concur the OHV type works well on the modern valves and springs. Shop around. You should be able to get on cheaper than shown in the post.

I drilled and tapped a 1/2 inch, 90* brass fitting in the upper rear of the valve cover. Helps relieve pressure and maybe adds a little air circulation. No splash over from the valve chamber at all....

You have to give the pistons to the machinist and have him bore to fit, to do it right. Since you need new pistons anyway, I would forget the .080 bore that may or may not be right, get .100 over and...

Best and cheapest hand cleaner is plain oil. Rub it on and it lifts dirt, grease, etc. I now fill it in a empty used hand cleaner squeeze bottle. Follow up with soap and water.
