Re: Pickup sliding rear glass.
The horror if it! Next thing you know, owners of old Fords will be wanting to go to 12 volts, hydraulic brakes, sealed beam lights, electric wipers, tubeless tires... them sinful things. Of course,...

Re: 56 T Bird rear tire carrier Delete ?
This appears to be correct. Marketing must have wanted the car released so badly that they stepped back from calling it a 'sports car' and detuned it to keep top speed down, opting to label it a...

Re: New Flathead Engine
You are correct, it fits a 6 bolt 302. It has never been installed, purchased from "Hnstray" on the Hamb 5-6 years ago, one he happened to have, he said at the time. It does not identify the...

Re: New Flathead Engine
Is this the pan off the China flathead? The transmission bolt pattern isn't even the same. Compare to the Ford bolt pattern on the right.

Re: 351 Cleveland Heads ?
Oh man, I'm glad this thread popped back up. It's saving my butt big time. I'd found a low mileage Pantera and was bugging the wife to let us get it. I can just see her screaming divorce if the...

Re: STP in steering box
The Miller-Fords competed twice more at Indy with flathead power, in '46 and '47, those times under the ownership of Andy Granatelli. The '47 experience resulted in a 12th position, the flathead...

Re: STP in steering box
In the '60s-'70s we used STP in steering boxes of Sportsman class and Modified class circle track cars, successfully. Added it to transmission, rear end and the engine, of course. From flatheads to...

Re: vedette V8/60 intake info?
When the Comete Monte Carlo was upgraded from Vedette V-8 60 to 239 V-8, it too, had a four bolt carb. And an aluminum pan and aluminum four speed transmission. (If you find either of those for $40,...

Re: F O R D Letters
I said that of my Bronco, and my dad corrected me with a grin.
"The first owner was Ford Motor Company," he said. "The second owner was the dealer's bank. The third owner was your Credit Union....

Re: 47 ran rough then not at all. Need ideas.
I agree that this is a good source to suspect. I had the identical problem Old Henry tells of, and (after much parts changing and hair pulling), it turned out to be a bad primary voltage connection...

Re: Lifters revisited...
My dad told me of the piano wire trick. He said he made up sixteen of the tools and just left them installed for future adjustments. At 2,000 rpm, he said, that flatty keyed up a rendition of "Under...

Re: 1941 Ford Pickup on the road now...finally
Breathtaking! I mean that. I agree with Ol' Ron (as usual) these are the best looking pickups... and timelessly so. Congratulations.
However, if you really love the old Ford, I would cease the...

10 -10 -10 revisited
For explanation to my friends, I humbly readdress the 10 – 10 – 10 thread.
I asked what 10, 10, 10 on the ‘59’engine rebuilder’s plate meant. To posters, SUHRsc and Tim Ayers, you were dead-on:...

Re: .10 - .10 - .10?
It isn't the cylinders. They were bored and then sleeved back to standard by the rebuilder.

Good point. I could blame it on old age, but, alas, I've been equally inept for the whole 74 years. :)

.10 - .10 - .10?
I have a '59' engine that was rebuilt by a Ford authorized rebuilder in '60. It is marked as .10 - .10 - .10. What the heck does the third .10 relate to?
