Re: Hot Coil

Re: Remedy for crankshaft end play

Call Antique Engine Rebuilders, I have used some of their half moon inserts with great success, they use them on every engine rebuild. I clean the bad babbit thrust surface off the back of the rear...

Re: What am I doing wrong.

You can have your lining and shoes fit to your drums. Used to be common place until in the 70's the EPA thought that all of the brake lining out there was made of asbestos, I don't think you can find...

Re: Juice Brake Identity

Your later backing plates are more desirable, the info you received on the wheel cylinders is spot on. The info about the location of the wheel cylinders at the bottom has a great deal of merit, next...

Re: engine / trans install question

You need to try the alignment tool again, loosen the cover, slide the disk around after loosening, lineup with the pilot bearing and torque the cover evenly to spec's. I prefer to leave or install...

Re: Help with a Mallory 11A

Mallory was sold several years ago, parts are not available from the new owner MSD which I think I heard is now part of Mr. Gasket or the other way around. You will have to watch the parts for sale...

Re: crank shaft movement

Just did two engines with brass replacement for the factory zink/alum component. These do not always take all of the play out fore - aft, in my cases it didn't. Antique Engine Rebuilders makes the...

Re: Valve seats with pits

To save the block it would make some sense to now go oversize with the intakes if they are the ones that are pitted. But without seeing your problem first hand a pitted seat may most likely your...

Re: Question about selling A parts

[QUOTE=nhusa;1919879]Thanks for all the recommendations and insight. They are complete motors, cranks, pistons, rods, bearing caps, heads, pans, cams, etc. not just blocks.
It is sad to hear that...

Re: R10 overdrive compatibility

If you don't use all the O/D parts I might be interested in your left overs, Class of 60, had a speed and boat shop in the old original Ford dealership across from C W Moss.

Re: Fuel leaking when shut off valve is closed

I just want to let you know that the leaking gas valve is responsible for the bulk of Model A losses due to fire at home. If you have a water heater in your garage and a fuel leak you could lose your...

Re: Manifold

You really should resurface them but keep them bolted together (2 bolts) at the heat riser. If they have been resurfaced several times before you may lose the ability to use your gland rings in the...

Re: Gauge Wire

I am of the school that runs 12 volts into the 6 volt model A starter, but I do not use the old style Bendix. I used to run 36 volts into the 12 starter to fire up the Rear Engine Dragster for years...
