Re: 1936 Columbia rear

With 3.54s you should be running close to 70 mph at 3000 rpm, with stock 600-16s.

Re: 1940-41 ford pickup cab &obedience mounting wood

I have patterns for 35-37 cab wood. I have heard that later wood mounts are similar, but its just what someone told me. I'll be happy to send them to you if you PM me your email address.

Re: 1937 Cabriolet with Intro (and questions)

Re: AOD vs 9" with highway gears

AOD would be my choice. It would give you the best good drivability in town and a decent hwy gear. With 0.70 OD, you would be right around 2050 rpm at 65 mph with a 29" tire.

Re: Which Transmission to Use?

If cruising at 55 is good, then 3.78s should be good.... and there are plenty of good complete 3.78 rear ends around for pretty cheap. Much easier (and cheaper) to swap one out than to change the...

Re: Which Transmission to Use?

Tough call, but a Columbia would be a nice period correct piece, if cost is not a big deal.

Re: 1938 Ford Standard Coupe questions

No. The only way a 37 front will interchange is if you do the entire front clip.... fenders, grill, side panels and hood. Take a look in your pics, at the right front fender just above the...

Re: 1938 ford sedan

38 Std and Deluxe are really 2 different cars. I don't think that any of the sheet metal is the same. Std body is (I believe) same as '37. Deluxe body is same as '39.

'38 deluxe and '39 std...

Re: 4.11 and 3.78 pinion difference?

Re: 4.11 and 3.78 pinion difference?

Just a question, but why not leave the 3.54s in for a 5k mile run? (Other than the obvious coolness of the QC.... but your car has plenty of cool without a QC)

You're running a '39 trans right,...
