I would add to that to try it as stock as possible and don't delay enjoying it by adding improvements like hydraulic brakes, pressure oiling, downdraft carb, etc.

I tapped a 1/8"npt hole in the plug in the torque tube and used a pair of brass street elbows to hold the vent vertical. I tried it with a tube, but it was going to be more work to keep the vent...

Oil gets flung up through those holes? I'm sure you're right, I just wouldn't have thought it. Are stock blocks affected similarly or do the extra mains have the effect?
