Re: Steel 1929 cowl band

I first thought mine was steel also so I tried to polish it up and .... oops, what is that yellow stuff coming through? Sure enough, it is brass way down inside! Since mine was dented up pretty bad...

Re: What was an "improved road"

And we can not forget the plank road that crossed the Algadones sand dunes in southern California. My dad told me of travelling across that in the 20's before the paved road was built later that...

Re: What was an "improved road"

I am sure that in 1903 an "improved" road referred to a macadam road or similar. A macadam at that time consisted of graded, broken rock placed in layers to properly drain moisture and distribute...

Re: Loose screw in bell housing

I wanted to update this thread with my latest success. I tried the magnet trick using the only magnets I had around. I first tried an old AlNiCo magnet from a coin vending machine but it was too...

Re: Loose screw in bell housing

Wow, that is impressive. Quite a collection of junk. I know mine only has the one screw and lock washer. I just hope mine is resting quietly on the bottom where I can pick it up with a magnet. I...

Re: Loose screw in bell housing

Hey guys, thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I will do the magnet on the flywheel trick later this week. Looks so easy and I have some strong magnets that should work good. The video was...

Re: Loose screw in bell housing

Thanks, I will try that. I do remember seeing some recently but I don't remember seeing any 'how to' advise. I will do search. I installed a new original and kept the old one for a spare (with new...

Loose screw in bell housing

Well, my original Bendix threw a bolt and it is now at the bottom of the bell housing. It has for the most part laid there quietly but recently I have had a few loud clunks that sounded like it was...

Re: Painting maroom garnish/dash

Josh,
I was in on that thread awhile back. It was started January 28. Search for "Town Sedan window moulding". Here is the procedure I used and listed in that thread.

Thanks. I think I...

Re: Pinstripe Using 3M Scotchcal Tape

There you go .... I never considered that! I would like to try pinstriping by hand on my car trailer I just got so will keep that in mind. Might be worth a try. That is interesting about Henry and...

Re: Pinstripe Using 3M Scotchcal Tape

I seriously considered doing the pinstriping myself - getting the right brush and practice, practice, practice, but decided to try the tape and was very pleased. The key I think is removing the tape...

Re: 28 Briggs Fordor

Well I asked my friend about his front seat since he did not drive it to the picnic and to my surprise he said he had a tudor. My mistake. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you (had to find...

Re: Pinstripe Using 3M Scotchcal Tape

I used the Finesse on my town sedan and think it really looks nice. The important point is to remove the tape right away before it dries so that the edge rounds over and is not so sharp. As for...

Re: 28 Briggs Fordor

If your seat is not adjustable then it seems that it should be attached to a metal riser. I assume you have the backrest? I would think that it would be the same only the TS is attached to two...

Re: 28 Briggs Fordor

Here is the springs frame that I rebuilt for mine based on the actual old wood frame. This is for a TS but they should be the same. Also, it is an adjustable seat. Pictures of your seat would help....

Sticking float valve

Twice now my float valve has stuck open and when I turn on the gas it pours out the carborator intake. It is usually after sitting for awhile and no, I do not run the carborator dry when I park it. ...

Re: 7 Tooth Steering

I have the same problem with my steering. It is a bit nerving when I drive through town with cars parked along the road. I probably have a 7-inch play. I have gone through all the steering linkage...

Re: Town Sedan window moulding

Thanks. I think I remember how I did it.
1. Spray on primer
2. Spray on Burgundy color enamel (I used Ace Premium enamel)
3. Hand brush black acrylic (from hobby shop)
4. Lightly brush with a...

I have a late '29 Briggs TS. I wanted to have a car as close to original as I could without draining my retirement money so I tried my had at doing the mahogany finish. It turned out okay - maybe not...
