Re: Relocate battery in ‘35

Good point. An Optima can be put in any position.

Re: 59-AB engine components

Egge for pistons and rings. If it's a stock engine, vavles and springs from the usual sources. I like 3rd Gen Automotive but I'm biased. I used NOS bearings on my last build.

Re: Relocate battery in ‘35

What about the trunk? Requires minimal butchery and some longer cables.

Re: '41 PU Rear Window

Ford never installed a sliding rear window in a '41 pickup.

Re: 6volt led headlights

I never had any luck with them. He kept insisting that my Ford headlight sockets were Plymouth. I finally just gave up. He also wasn't much help ordering.

Re: rebuild engine

I always like to rebuild my own. I take the parts to a machine shop and I put it together. That way I know what I get. There many "rebuilt" engines out there with a valve job and new rings.

Re: starting problem???

Does it act like it's a rich fuel mixture after you re-start? Is your power valve leaking?

Re: Gas under carbs on manifold

Jet screws. They could have put a patent on that leak.

Re: Solenoid clicking. Won't start

Most of the time you can't get any better than the original Ford parts.

Re: Opinion Re Differential Gear Ratio

I like what Brent said. My 1937 Ford Tudor has a 85 hp V8, 16 in wheels and a 3.25 rear gear. It will drive down the highway very well. I'm in flat land country, no mountains.

Re: Changing of the Guard. A new breed of car nuts.

I agree. It takes me back to a time when there was some romance to early motoring. Now it's hurry up, cut someone off and flip them the bird.

Re: Solenoid clicking. Won't start

You can run a Ford 6v starter on 12v without problems.

Re: Solenoid clicking. Won't start

Did you try rocking the car back and forth in 3rd gear?

Re: Solenoid clicking. Won't start

Is it a stock starter or some kind of aftermarket thing? Your starter drive might be stuck. Put the car in 3rd gear and rock it back and forth to get the starter drive loose. Don't pull the starter...

Re: Rubber stopper on window channel?

The rear windows also have a vent feature. Karl is correct.

Re: Opinion Re Differential Gear Ratio

Yes. I would like to do this to my '31 Victoria. I have many 3.54 gear sets in V8 Fords and even a 3.25 gear.

Re: Changing of the Guard. A new breed of car nuts.

I'm 43 and I appreciate early Fords as they came out of the factory. I'm so anal I will only use NOS parts when available. Modernize an early Ford and I'll likely wonder if you have lost your mind. ...

I have a 1937 NOS, 60hp transmission cluster gear. If you need one.

Re: Columbia two speed differentials

Your '41 most likely has a 3.78 gear ratio. It seems like it's not happy at 55 mph but it can handle it with ease. I have ran a 3.78 with a stock 59A engine at 65 mph with no problems.

I do...

Re: Merc 1939 axle in a 32 frame need help with torque tube lenght

What's the advantage of a '39 rearend in the '32? Seems like a lot of work for a result that makes you go down the road all the same?

Re: Where’s my water going?

This is a good thought. I have put together some tight engines and when they properly break in they run really well. As long as it's not dangeroulsy hot or blowng anti freeze all over the car, keep...

Re: Car Is Shrinking........

The first time I drove a '32 Ford I was amazed at how much better the car drove compared to my '31 Victoria. The comfort, ride, steering, gear shifting, and power of the V8 engine is a night and day...

Re: Where’s my water going?

One quart isn't a lot. You might be pushing that out the overflow at higher speeds. If you are only adding 4 cups that should not cause an overheat. When you say it overheats, does it boil over or...
