Stay with the 4 cylinder B. There are too many differences to make an authentic V8. FWIW

I recall a new 1957 Ford Custom as a lucky draw at Cruckshank Motors in Weston, Ontario. It was also black.

For a correct Butler finish in nickel, use abrasive on the bare steel and then have the nickel electroplating applied.
