Re: transmission vent?

Ditto Bob C's comment re the transmission may be overfilled. Remove the fill plug on the right side of the transmission. If oil flows out, the transmission is overfilled.

If you opt to drain the...

Re: Grease in 2-tooth

Ditto Kurt's reply. Just add oil such as SAE 145 or higher viscosity Synthetic Gear Oil. The grease will significantly slow down oil leakage past the sector bushings. I have been doing this since...

Re: Water Neck Modification

I considered placing the temperature sensor in the water inlet casting, but I choose to install it in the upper radiator hose instead. My rationale is that the coolant flow in the water neck, being...

Re: Front bumper arm help needed

I had this problem, but I fixed it on my Model "A" by bending one arm to get equal distance to the front wheels. Loosen the front bumper clamps first. Heat the arm red hot so it bends before the...

Re: Temperature Gauge Issue

The needle is stuck at 140F on my Rex-A-C0 gauge. I suspect that the line from the sensor probe to the gauge has an issue. More to follow.

Re: New Shocks vs Rebuilt Shocks

I have 1600 miles on a professionally rebuilt set of original Houdaille shocks. All four leak and often need replenishing of their fluid!
The Houdaille shock absorber has a poor seal design, and...

Temperature Gauge Issue

I have a relatively new reproduction Rex-A-Co Temperature Gauge in one of my Model A's that has stopped working. Has anyone had this experience and found a fix?

Re: Gasket between carb and intake

Cork is a poor choice for sealing fluids in my opinion, because cork is porous and usually thick. Thick multi-layer gaskets cause cracking of the parts they seal because these gaskets compress under...

Re: oversize head gasket

My understanding is that the copper head gasket available now fits up to an 0.125 oversize cylinder bore. Maybe this is not / no longer the case?
The weakness in a big bore gasket is the minimal...

Re: Kick panels

Model A News magazines of the late 1960s had inserts of drawings of the various interior panels for Model A's. I am not certain, but you may find reprints of these drawings in early volumes of the...

Re: Snyder's New Catalog Came...and a Warning!

So far, the availability of essential aftermarket Model A parts I need to keep my restored Model A cars in good running condition has not negatively affected me. However, I do see a contraction in...

Re: Opinion Re Differential Gear Ratio

Thanks all for your comments. Unfortunately, I do not see my piggy bank getting enough to buy a Mitchel OD this year or in the near future. So I will likely opt for the differential gear change.

Re: Snyder's New Catalog Came...and a Warning!

The availability of new parts is drifting back to what the market had to offer in 1960s through the 1980s. This puts pressure on us to restore more used parts like we did many years ago. The bottom...
