Re: New Stipe Camshafts

Hi, Bill! 'Good to hear from you again after such a long drought. We were worried about you. 'Sorry to see you leave our Midwest, but I hope your new abode in Kentucky works out for you. Your shop in...

Re: Lifting 30 Tudor body

And here's the body going back onto the assembled chassis. I used bare 19" wheels when doing this.

Re: Lifting 30 Tudor body

Here's how I removed a HEAVY Town Sedan body from the frame using 4" x 4" timbers and solid cement building blocks. Once alternately jacked up high enough, I slid the frame out from underneath. This...

Re: Steering Wheel Slop

A local special interest car company bought a 1931 Coupe a few years ago with the same problems the poster described. I was called to reduce the play at the steering wheel. No amount of adjusting or...

Re: Snyder's New Catalog Came...and a Warning!

If you have national club magazines back to the early 1960's through even the late 1970's, compare the age of the owners shown in them to what you see in recent years' magazines. It looks like their...

Thanks for the thumbs-up! 'Been there many times in the past during my Model A learning curve. I speak from painful (and messy) experience. :( There's almost nothing better an owner can do...

Re: Source for dome light wood???

SUPER, JayJay! Thank you so much for these diagrams. They will save me re-inventing the wheel and making lots of mistakes. I see that according to your drawings, the mounting board goes into the...

Re: radiator splashing

From your description of the problem, I'm guessing you have a fancy split Flying Quail or Moto-Meter radiator cap. These caps are attractive, but are notorious for allowing hot coolant to surge out...

Re: Source for dome light wood???

I just measured my bows and they appear to be 1" thick. A friend just dropped off a jig saw, so all I need now is a scrap piece of 1" thick wood, probably pine. I'll wing the hole pattern, checking...

Re: Source for dome light wood???

JayJay -
Thanks for the photos. They help. How thick is the mounting block? I am assuming it is the same thickness as the top bows where it attaches.

Re: Photo request: Page 11, "Model A News"

Thanks for the supporting comment, rackops. I was beginning to think I'm being too anal about a detail that not 1 in 50 Model A owners would notice or even know about. I was not aware of this obscure...

Re: Source for dome light wood???

Thanks for answering my questions, Bob. Mike's "A" Ford-able still has these wooden blocks for sale on his website, but as I was told yesterday on the phone with them, they can't get them anymore....

Photo request: Page 11, "Model A News"

I am installing replated bumperettes in the rear of a 1929 Model A under restoration and need to see the photo on page 11 of the recent MARC "Model A News" that supposedly shows the black sprayed...

Re: Source for dome light wood???

By the way, Bob, what is the distance between the two bows, where dome light wood is located? If it's 8", then the wood from your year and body style will also work. But Mike's doesn't seem to stock...

Re: Source for dome light wood???

Unfortunately, Bob, I don't know exactly what the pattern is supposed to look like for my 1929 Murray Town Sedan. I see your pattern shown on Mike's website, but it is listed for the 1931 models like...

Source for dome light wood???

I am looking for a source that can supply wood for mounting the Murray Town Sedan's oval dome light, which is different from the Briggs pattern. The distance between the top wood bows is different =...

Re: Interested Dash information

The very first Model A I looked at to buy in 1966 (a 1931 Coupe) in answer to my classified ad in a local newspaper had a similar black, splotchy pattern over the instrument panel's ribs. The older...

Re: New to me

The fact that the starter's Bendix drive has probably jammed itself against the ring gear teeth would not create the loss of lights and horn. I think you have two problems going on here.
1. The...

Re: Newbie with '29 RPU

For a couple years, Lebaron Bonney made complete folding top irons for the '28-29 Open Cab Pickup Truck. They seemed relatively expensive at the time, but look darned cheap now! You might try...

Re: Newbie with '29 RPU

"I was told that the hood with the bead roll is from a closed cab pickup??"

You were misinformed. The pictured hood on the truck belongs only to the body styles I listed in Post #4. A '28-29...

Re: Newbie with '29 RPU

Not to nitpick your nice truck, but you'll need the correct hood. The one that is presently on your Model A is from a '28-29 Fordor Sedan or a 1929 Town Sedan/Town Car/Cabriolet. Fortunately, the...

Re: Car Is Shrinking........

Try removing some padding from the front seat. That will lower the height enough to make it easier to get in an out. Older LeBaron Bonney interior kits ended up being too high in this area if you...
