You can loop a hose from one port on the fuel pump to the other port. This will just keep all the crap that could be sucked into the pump out of it.

How are the motor mounts? If under load and the motor rocks, it can open up an exhaust leak that is not there when not under load.

Is the draft tube right behind the fuel pump? If so I was wondering what that block off plate was for on my 56 T-Bird 312. If this is correct a block off plate from a Thunderbird will work.

I have seen small soft copper washers used to fix leaking flared fittings. Just insert into the fitting and it conforms to the scored parts.

My 56 T-Bird has the frame stamped on the top of the frame directly under the heater blower on the passenger side. I don't know if yours is the same but it's easy to look with just opening the hood.

Zerk fittings replaced Alemite fittings on almost all makes by 1934. Alemite is old school for grease fitting.
