Re: Model A and T Upholsterers

Yeah, I am inline with the others here that this just doesn't sound like Mike's way of doing business.

FWIW, people often confused the name Cartouche with Classtique, -and I would WAY more...

Re: 354 Ring an Pinion

Yes, then with what you are saying, a 3.54 will be a good fit. Just understand that this is only about a 7% increase in speed, or about 3½ more mph to your existing speed. That is why a 3.27 is...

Re: Pressure plates

Here are the Pros & Cons. A new plate is made off-shore, and so the plate and the diaphragm springs that come with the foreign manufactured unit are of less quality. While I have not been involved...

Re: 354 Ring an Pinion

Tom, there is an improvement as far as longevity of the engine is concerned (-due to lower RPMs at the same speed) however to fully answer your question giving Pros & Cons, the present condition of...

Re: RIP John Phillips Model A Garage

Paul, it definitely is not viewed as any type of problem on my part. Actually, the person you referred was the 2nd person I heard it from and both have called me since each are in a similar...

Re: winch

Rob, this is likely one of those 'He said/She said' myths that someone fabricated and people bought into it because it was believable. The worst thing about attaching to the middle of the front axle...

RIP John Phillips Model A Garage

I received a call Saturday and heard that John Phillips who ran a restoration shop in Luray, VA passed away earlier this month. Condolences to Susan and the family.

Re: winch

We have been using the synthetic winch rope for probably 5+ years now and love it. On my Hauler, we 'overbuilt' the rear ramp door and so we had to use a winch to raise/lower it. It has a rating of...

Re: speedster windshield

When I answered about the Brooklands above, I didn't realize the cowl that you had. I think the biggest issue you will have for the Brooklands on your cowl is fabricating a flat surface on the cowl...

Re: Pressurized center main bearing?

In a nutshell, there really isn't a need to pressurize all three. The size of the rear main bearing is WAY more adequate than needed, and it receives plenty of oil thru gravity. If you were to...

Re: speedster windshield

1) I cannot speak for windshields being required in NC, but I think I still have a windshield frame that was built for use on the Rootlieb-built speedsters that I would sell. I can either post a...

Re: 1928-29 a400

I like it also. A couple of things that do catch my eye though, ...I think the back of the body needs the beltline dropped like the 31 body has which helps lower and streamline it a tad.

Also,...

Re: counterbalanced crank welds

Yes, this is very true.

Pete, I am not sure I know the answer to this, but I am curious. Does the weight have greater forces that would cause it to want to separate from the crankshaft at 2,500...

Re: Pressurized center main bearing?

With Dennis passing away and them having a sale last June, is Beth still running the store?

Re: Pressurized center main bearing?

I drill the block first, then I have a small tapered reamer to create a hole that a tapered pipe tap like, then I thread the block. There is room to rotate the fitting. The throws of the crankshaft...

Re: 2024 Chickasha pre-war Swap Meet

Interesting view on this. I personally felt it was as bad as many said. Many of the vendors who attended Chickasha are people who either side-line, -or make their living attending. Their sales,...

Re: 2024 Chickasha pre-war Swap Meet

I understand now why you prefer larger, and more diversified meets such as Pate. With that said, you must also realize that you are in a very small minority in that you are looking for parts for...

Re: 2024 Chickasha pre-war Swap Meet

Ronn, I also have not attended Hershey in the past 7-8 years because I feel it is too much real estate to effectively cover, the overhead (lodging, food, etc.) costs are expensive, ...and for each...

Re: Why is there a need for an Adjustable Drag Link?

Dave, is the square end on the F100 sector what is making the steering wheel alignment off? If so, I wonder why the F100 box sector cannot be machined with the square oriented in the right location??
