Re: My 1941 Ford 1/2 ton pickup restoration
Thanks. Wish I could lay claim to the work. I bought it as a "restored" truck. The body and interior were beautifully restored, but the chassis was a worn-out hunk of junk. The PO had added 3 full...

Wire wheel truing
The Budd wheels on my new, to me, '33 Continental Flyer are wobbly. Actually, one is true, two are marginal and two are wobbly.
Who can straighten these for me? Makes no sense to put new tires on...

Ignition resistor
My '41 has an ignition resistor that's been bypassed. It has a modern coil instead of the unit mounted on the distributor. Is this a correct installation?

Re: Stainless steel(rusty)
We have a stainless steel outdoor sculpture that rusted. The artist came out and wire brushed the rust off and it came right back. Wire brushed it again and it came back. He was totally confused as...

New to this, squeaky springs
What do you recommend for getting rid of the fairly apparent leaf spring noise? I see what looks like rust dust between the leaves. I assume that that is where the noise is coming from.
Thanks.

Re: Tire Pressure
It probably felt like it was floating because it was overinflated, causing a smaller contact patch, thus lower traction.

Re: Kinda off-topic "Dream Cruise"
Dream Snooze? It sucks if you have an old or open car. They ruined the cruise by allowing diesel tour busses mingle with the cruisers. They get to sit in air conditioning living vicariously, while...

Re: "Short circuit"
This guy should have known better. He was an HVAC contractor mounting a piece of equipment to a rooftop unit. He pierced a wire and it blew the 100-amp fuse at the main instead of tripping the 40-amp...

Re: Horns blows once than shorts out.
It's like electric brakes on trailers. The coils are not voltage specific but need to be controlled by a variable resistor.
You are overdriving your horns, but they should hold up, as little as...

Re: Tire Pressure
What do you mean by "floating"? I'm contemplating radials for my '41 and I'd like to know what to expect.
Did you have it aligned after the new tires were installed. That made a big difference on...

Here's a case of DIW.
If you know what you're looking at, you'll be "shocked".

"Short circuit"
As a newbie here I've been reading a number of posts here that use the term "short circuit". It is most often misused as a short circuit is a direct connection between the power source and a ground...

Re: Horns blows once than shorts out.
Horns can draw 20-amps, or more. I would try a separate 30-amp fuse-holder off the battery and use a 20-amp fuse. Use 10 gauge wire and you should be fine.
However, if your car does not have a...

Re: What is the HAMB site
I'm beginning to understand. It wasn't that my thread was off-topic, it was the graphic nature of one of the last posts that got the thread closed. Seems a strange way to handle the situation.
