Re: American Classic Vs Excelsior radials

I ground odd the but that holds the lug in the mounting plate on the side Mount arm and knocked them out. (Carefully.). Now I wiggle the tire into the fender and push the bolts through. The square...

Re: American Classic Vs Excelsior radials

I mounted the tire, inflated it, deflated it, broke the backside bead an applied a good dollop in five or six places between the tire bead and the rim. My buddy, who also “lost” a valve stem, used a...

Re: American Classic Vs Excelsior radials

I am running Coker’s tubes. Rubber stems in the Excelsiors and ‘31-style metal stems in the AC’s. No problem except you need to glue (tubeless tar in a can) the tire bead to the rim if you powdercoat...

Re: American Classic Vs Excelsior radials

I have 20K miles on Excelsiors on a Roadster. Four are great and wearing as expected. The other two have a shake, maybe because they’ve been in the side mounts. I gave up on them last rotation and...

B-W woes

This nice 31 Tudor had a Borg Warner overdrive. It worked great until it didn’t. We’ve taken it apart and discovered a broken chain and a gear with pretty sharp teeth.
Does anyone know where we can...

Re: latest issue of restorer

Pitch the rubber standoffs and cut off the brackets. The screen will stay in place because you are gluing it inside the radiator surround. I successfully installed one in our 1931 Tudor. The surround...

Re: Model A Ford Trunk for my Victoria

I wonder what happened to the Victoria that had the trunk molded into the rear panel of the car. If you opened the trunk you could access the storage space behind the rear seat. It was very neatly...

Re: Shock Absorber Fluid Replacement

Robert Paul restored my shocks, as well. Once, in a rare telephone call (he was hard to get a hold of), he told me not to mix oil with glycerin. Also he said you could not get all the oil out of the...

Re: Solution for audio system in model A?

Well Andy, I guess you really aren’t interested in a solution to your dilemma. But, if you are still open to suggestions, try one earbud. Give the other one to your first officer. Then you will both...

Re: Solution for audio system in model A?

Buy a decent Bluetooth speaker. Rechargeable ones cost from $50-$250. The $50 one works great. The one we got at Best Buy hangs nicely from the dash rail by an integral rubber strap. It works great...

Re: Non-Authentic Paint Colors & Schemes

Not addressed here so far, are the cars that are painted “colors reversed.” There are some very authentic-looking cars that have the dark color on the bottom and the light color on the top and some...

Re: HELP: 30 Station Wagon Owners

RAS,
Your corner iron looks to be a piece of angle iron. Henry's version is a bit more elegant. It has a bulge at the bottom corner that tapers up. Also, the corners at the top should be rounded...
