Re: another one bites the dust

I think we had this same conversation in 1972. And how many times since? It does not appear any of us have ever changed any bodies mind. :)

To each his own. It's all good!

Re: 1949 Merc diff gears?

My '49 came with 4:27 with OD. When I tore the trans out I replaced it with the 3:90 which did come out of a non-OD car. There may have been 3:91’s in OD cars but I never knew of one.

Surprizing use of my '36 roadster

One of the larger churches here in town aske if they could use my roadster for the lead in video to their Christmas sermon.

Re: gas mileage

My '36 roadster will get 21-22 on the highway. It is about 265 CI being a .060 over Mercury block. The mileage comes from a 3.25 rear with OD trans as well as a Chevy distributor.

A good advance...

Re: rear fenders for a 35 Ford sedan, does 36 work?

His statement that the fenders are narrower at the running board is puzzling.

The 35 and 36 have a different profile as shown above and the coupe/roadster fenders are different than a sedan where...

Re: Porters or Smithy's ?

I can not comment on which sound better but the quality of the headrers Red sent me was great. Not only did they fit well but the ceramic (?) coating on them still looks new 5 years later.

Re: 8BA ignition

Good to see you here Richard!

If any of the readers here are wondering about the Chevy conversion, I drove the 36 to Nashville a couple of months ago. It has a Chevy Points distributor with 3.25 9...

Re: Porters or Smithy's ?

If you block off your heat risers, you will find the Smitty's come alive some. I am running Red's Headers and long Smitty's behind a fairly well built '51 Merc in my '36 roadster.

I am very...

Re: 2 deuces vers 0ne 4 barrel

There is no doubt in my mind my 390 is defective. I have never taken it apart to check it. Only tried to tune it.

I do like the fact that the WCFB is period correct for an early style hot rod...

Re: 2 deuces vers 0ne 4 barrel

I would be the first to admit the multi carb set ups are sexy but I will share my experience with the 4 barrell.

I purchased a 390 cfm Holly from speedway and never did get it to accelerate...

Go to hotrodder.com forum and search for hood adjustment tutorial by MartinSR. He does an excellent job of explaining the geometry of a hood hinge and how to adjust.

Re: anyone have an authentic 60HP '40 Ford

As a teenager I had a V8-60 in a Morris Minor. It was a really smooth little motor but really was a gutless wonder. I would think it would really be under powered in a 40 Ford.
