I know a guy up in VA who has at least one B engine, maybe two. He says he isn't going to need them and was trying to get me to buy them. I believe they're in running condition. If VA is close enough...

Re: testing horn
Yes, just connect a 6V circuit with one lead on each terminal. Polarity irrelevant.

Re: Winfield Head Paint
I did a fair amount of research on this question a couple years ago for my Winfield red head and I never turned up any positive evidence that the logo was painted a contrasting color.

Re: Distributor rebuild.
I have no idea what that is and it doesn't show up anywhere else in Moss's catalog. Maybe call them and ask?

Re: model a engine
In my book, a "rebuild" means modification (grind, rebore, etc.) of major parts due to wear: crank journals, bearings, cylinder bore, etc. A valve job is not a rebuild, nor is the replacement of...

Here's a somewhat cheaper one you might be able to adapt to work.

Re: Distilled water
Technically correct but only important if you are using water by itself... which you shouldn't be doing. Antifreeze contains additives, specifically sodium molybdate, that supply the ions to balance...

Re: Distilled water
Rain falls.
The water percolates as groundwater through rocks before it flows into the reservoir.
Calcium (and other salts, but mostly calcium) from the rocks dissolves into the water.
Water...

Re: Crank hole cover rivet
I had a loose cover and I fixed it - at least for now - using a small o-ring. Took some work to wedge the ring under the rivet edges on the back of the shell, but it’s holding for the moment.

Puts a non-conductive layer between the bus bar and the distributor casting, in case they accidentally make contact.

Re: Clutch Plate Bolt question
Wouldn't make sense to use steel on a flywheel anyway. Steel is for tensile strength. A flywheel just needs to be big and heavy.

I didn't know how to drive stick before I got into antique cars. Now I do. It's not a big deal. In the big scheme of learnable skills, driving stick is somewhere down around "make an espresso" in...

Re: Snyder's New Catalog Came...and a Warning!
If you look at the way Burtz designed his block, they started not from the spec sheet but by laser-scanning a NOS block. That gets a lot of the work out of the way. Then you correct errors and...

Re: Snyder's New Catalog Came...and a Warning!
An interesting sidenote is that the cars themselves have not appreciated in value once you account for inflation. I was just looking through an obscure hobbyist magazine from 1984 (A Model News,...

Re: Snyder's New Catalog Came...and a Warning!
The most straightforward explanation for this is declining employment in trades where someone would learn how to do that work. The peak of US manufacturing employment was 1979. Between 1979 and 2010,...
