Re: Engine swap at factory?
This is the "Container Vicky" found abandoned in a container on the New York / New Jersey docks after 911. From it's condition, I seriously doubt a previous owner looked for a near-matching number.

Re: Engine swap at factory?
I did not think to do that 8 years ago, but did not easily see any other markings. I only checked the engine # at first and found it to be a '31 and therefore probably correct. It wasn't till after...

Re: Engine swap at factory?
It does not bother me to drive an "illegitimate" car. I just thought it is VERY coincidental that the two numbers are only two manufacturing days apart.
I also thought it would make for good...

Engine swap at factory?
My '31 Victoria has a different engine number than the frame number. While this is not unusual, the numbers are only 11,956 apart.
The frame number is 4301547, and the engine is 4313503.
The info....

Re: Painting cowl / gas tank
Although not "correct" as per the Judging Standards, I think the welting looks better in it's natural black. Also, the tank is easier pin striped on the bench.

I currently have my three classic cars with J.C. Taylor. I've been with them for years with no problems (no claims either).

Re: victoria colors
PPG has two different colors "Brewster Green" and "Brewster Green Medium".
I think the "Brewster Green" is more like Kewanee (sp?) or Elkpoint Green ( whichever is the dark one).
I used "Brewster...

Re: victoria colors
Don't make the same mistake I did.
When I painted mine (the leatherback on a dolly in Brick's post) I "forgot" to paint the reveals at the windows, lower body color.
"Head up and locked".

I had a problem with the same symptom in a '30 CCPU I once owned. The bearing in the torque tube (near the U joint) came apart and the rollers jammed between the drive shaft and the inside of the...

Re: Side curtains for 31 deluxe roadster
I made my own. A friend let me make patterns from his car. I purchased clear plastic for convertible rear windows, Had it edged by local upholstery shop. ALOT BETTER visibility when installed.

Re: ? vicki soft top..........
"Leatherback" or "steelback"?
If "leatherback", see Service Bulletins.
If "steelback", see marco's barnyard site.
I used either galvanized or zinc coated tacks. Length varies with total depth to...
