Re: Next problem is... locked rear brakes

My backing plates have the bolt heads on the outside. And the nuts on the inside. I guess that is one problem. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

When adjusting the brakes, the front left...

Re: Next problem is... locked rear brakes

Now that I have all the brakes adjusted. I am getting a hellova grinding noise when turning to the left. I think it is coming from my front passengers hub. But I do not see any damage to the interior...

Re: Next problem is... locked rear brakes

The inner diameter of the puller would only fit in the groove, of the grooved hubs. Only the corners touch the shoulder of my hub. Not making full contact. But yes, I did try putting the puller on...

Re: Knocking. Valves?

I replaced the pulley with a one piece. It sounds a little smoother. But still a some knocking. Maybe I just never noticed it before. Like SmokedTires says. It might just be the way it's supposed to...

Now I understand...

Re: Next problem is... locked rear brakes

I tried the screwdriver hammer trick. I've pulled these drums 6 months ago using that method. The control rod is disconnected. The lever does not budge. This guy is stuck. I'm pretty sure I need the...

Next problem is... locked rear brakes

I just finish replacing my 2 piece pulley with a 1 piece. Went for a celebration drive. And had to smash the brakes to avoid an accident. Now my rear brake is locked up. I'm having difficulty pulling...

Re: Knocking. Valves?

Fan blade is tight and I have a thrust collar on the pump shaft. But, my crank pulley wobbles quite a bit. It is a two piece pulley. I grabbed a one piece from a friend and will swap it out.

Re: 7 tooth retainer clip

I measured 17mm ID. But found only 18mm or 16mm ID. I ordered both. 16mm was too small. 18mm looks good.

I measured and ordered from McMaster. Looks like the order might arrive next day. I will return here and provide the details if the rings fit. Thanks for the advice.

Re: Loss of power,

I could not decide on original points, or modern. I read plenty of posts about original points working as expected. And no need for modern unless the condenser keeps burning up. I may buy a set of...

Re: Loss of power,

I spent the evening going through the engine. A multi point inspection if you will. I found that there are a couple of scratches in the distributor cam that wore down the pad on the breaker arm and...

Re: Loss of power,

I swapped out the carb yesterday already when I started my drive. I brought a known good carb with me.

Re: Loss of power,

I bent the wire connector 90 degrees when attaching it to the upper plate.

I'll do the box gap cleaning tip tomorrow.

Dizzy is in reference to the distributor rotor, correct?

Champion plugs. I pulled #1 plug on the side of the road. It was light Grey color. No moisture.

I'll pull the others when I get home
