probably crud restricting cap comp or main jet .... did you clean the passages .? a blast with an airline may solve it , if not time to take it apart again! lots of info on this website ,...

Very puzzling ...long shots here!... is there some particularly nasty gasket gunge on the carb/manifold gasket ?..Is it really fuel there at the throttle shaft ? ... for 1.5 litres to leak this...

The inlet thread is standard 1/2-20 thread (same as the strainer), But IMHO there is insufficient metal around it to successfully helicoil...but may be try?... or may be try to extend the threads...

I found that some of the viton-tipped float valves were sticking and not always opening so I I went back to original type or the ball type.

as most others suggest the likely causes of the the non-opening together with the non- closing of the valve in your case is either A. a poor valve, or B. float getting caught on casting, or C....

According to these documents your engine will be CAO5513 ( - not CA"zero" as that would have been CA5513) and puts it between Dec 15th 1930 and Jan 15th 1931.

But Ford Canada stopped stamping the engine number on the frame about the middle of 1928 so looking for the serial number on the fame may be futile! See this thread...

Did someone at Fords originally spend time matching gears or were they machined more accurately than nowadays ?

Ah, I now suspect that the problem is the lower shaft has pulled up slightly from the drive and crud/rust is stopping it going back down .. need lots of airline blowing and thin oil ... you will...

What was Fords original machining on the two shifter shafts? Were they both unramped. I've read (but never seen proof) that R/1 were ramped but 2/3 unramped. But many nowadays are both ramped. Did...

1. There should be a gasket for the main jet. It may be still stuck in the casting ... have a good look . If there is no gasket it could be a cause of fuel leaking out of the back of the carb. 2....
