Gas Tank ID 3 Attachment(s)
Hey there,
I bought this gas tank the other day for my project. I was told by the seller that it is model T. Not sure if that's the case or not. Hoping someone here can set me straight, and maybe point me to a source for a gas cap, and how to remove/repair the "gauge" in the tank. Thanks! J |
Re: Gas Tank ID I don't think it is factory for the model T.

Re: Gas Tank ID Not model . Model T take has a female thread on the filler tube and no gas gauge. If you can find a cap for the filler neck, it probably can be used.

Re: Gas Tank ID The filler bung with external bayonet lugs is not common in the modern era. The only caps I've seen of that style are for waste water connections but they are larger than that. It may be difficult to source a cap for that type of bung.

A bit more detail. I was able to remove the gauge from the tank, and also found that there is a pickup tube going to the bottom of the tank.

Re: Gas Tank ID 3 Attachment(s)
So I'm moving ahead with this tank. I cleaned it out, gave it a first coat of paint, cleaned up the float gauge and put on a new poly float bobber, and made some mounting brackets to put it on. I'll hold it to the mounts with straps and clamps. Still trying to decide if I try to make a cap for it, or if I just run a hose off the fill port and put a cap on the panel above the trunk. Either way, I think it will work out well.

Re: Gas Tank ID It is a great gas tank for a speedster or race car or track car.
