Transmission question.
 

Hi,
I have my transmission laying on the work bench as in the picture. Is it possible to turn the drums clockwise and couterclockwise by hands?
If not, what can be wrong?
Is it only possible if the clutch spring is released maybe? How deep shall the screw in each clutch finger be screwed down? I read about a play 13/16", somewhere, but i cant figure out were to measure.
Everything else is disassembled so maybe i should do the transmission too. I would be sad if i bolted all together and the transmission still is stuck.
Please, guide me further.

Once the master clutch is bolted in place, the transmission will now think it is in high gear, and all three drums are 'locked' together. If you want to rotate the low or reverse drum for some reason, you will need to release the master clutch by loosening the pressure plate screws.

One way to gauge the correct clutch pressure is to adjust the screws so the spring is compressed to 2 inches. This is the easiest for me to do when the transmission is on the bench.

Wow, i'm learing all the time. Now i can rotate the three drums:)
I also found that the transmission must have been rebuilt earlier, all plays
seems to be ok.
But... what kind of clutch discs do i have? Doesn't look like Watts, Jack Rabbit, turbo 400 or even original.
The 24 disc stack is 1,013" thick.

Tom, those are stock Ford T. They'll work just fine.

Your stack should be 1 1/8 inches tall. You might need to add an extra disk or two to the stack to make up the height. You can have two of the same on the outside if you only need to add one.
