Need engine in TODAY!!

Got a open frame so easy peezy! My question is I just have a engine hoist and the regular chain to plug holes (no leveling device) Putting in engine and trans together. The trans end tilts way down. I'm a one man operation. Chain is in # 2 and 3 plug hole. Any way to level this motor out?

Did you try 3 & 4 holes?

4 hole never had a problem
Remember it's all nuts and bolts:)

No problem, as you can lift the rear as it's lowered, or block it with something, then as the flywheel cover rests on the rear motor mounts the front will settle into place.

If the rear is already in place, then it will need to be level enough to start the splines into the U-joint first.

Getting ready to replace engine. What is best way, with or without transmission?? Seems like without would be easier, don't have to remove tower and linkages etc?

Well I just got the read mounted in.....now does the front mounting bracket bolts go through the two holes on front crossmember and then secured in block?

Yes, if it's a 1928 with the solid front mount.

If it's the late 1928 and later with the yoke mount, then I'd set it in place with the springs and install the nut on the bottom and the 2 bolts into the front of the engine last.

Tom it's a early '28 judging by the cross member so solid mount. Let the vibration begin. I could cut it off and use the yoke but too lazy....hahahhaha

Go to Harbor Freight and buy two ratchet straps for around $10-15 bucks. Place one around the bell housing and hook it to the hoist. Put a bolt in the generator mounting hole. Connect the strap from the bolt to the hoist. You can get the angle pretty close for installation.

Dick, great suggestion! I already have her in...it was tough to line up rear mounting area as engine was tilted as well but finally got her in.
