oil pump modification?

1 Attachment(s)
I read the thread on the Burtz motor oil pump modifications and am wondering if I need to open the slots on the new oil pump just purchased before I install it in a stock engine. His modifications are for his block and oiling system. Pic enclosed of the slots in my pump. I have access to any machine work needed.Attachment 520463

Yes, you will need to open the outlets up a bit, and also block off the slots at the top of the tube to allow the oil to exit to an external filter, if you plan on using one.

The oiling system on the Burtz is totally different from a stock Model A.

I always open them up to 5/16 or 3/8 even on a stock motor.

Next step is to reduce the diameter of the pump shaft to give additional clearance for oil flow.

When I took the pump apart to drill out the slots I found the shaft had already been cut down. One more thing I didn't have to do.
