Brake Adjusting Wedge On one wheel, the brake adjusting wedge has to be all the way down before I can get a drag. Do not think it should be that way. Where to look? Suggestions?

Re: Brake Adjusting Wedge There was a topic last updated 4/6 on brake adjusting shafts, if yours are short or worn on one wheel that could be the problem.
Front or back? |
Re: Brake Adjusting Wedge Look for worn parts.

Re: Brake Adjusting Wedge It is the rear wheel. The brakes were just rebuilt, so unless the wedge is short, wear should not be an issue.

Re: Brake Adjusting Wedge The wedge adjusting shafts might be the issue. Each pair must be equal length and free to move. The tips that hit the wedge cannot be worn, neither can the pins or holes in the break shoes that fit the adjuster shafts to the shoes. I think wear is your problem. Do you know if new parts were used on the rebuild? I've seen new brake adjusting shafts that were not the same length.
