One misfiring

So, I went for a little drive in the A a while ago and she seemed like she lost a little power. When I got back I disconnected the spark plug connectors and placed them 1/8" or so above the contacts on the distributor cap. Three had a nice strong steady spark, one did not. #3 was not firing or only firing once every few minutes. I took the distributor cap off and cleaned all 4 contacts, not much better. Checked that the plug was tight no better. Any idea why there would be no spark (intermittent) to only one plug? Distributor cap bad, plug bad?

Try changing out that plug and re-fire

bad cap, bad plug , maybe the spark plug wire is bad also, which might go back to the dist cap, good advice on dist cam, ive had one lobe worn so bad in a dist the points wouldnt open on that lobe, thurn engine over till #3 is on top of the lobe on #3 and see if the points are opening to secs

Re: One misfiring

Swap #3 plug with #1 plug and see if the miss moves to #1. If the miss is still at #3, then the distributor body is probably bad.

As mentioned check the cam first because thats the easiest and quickest.

Thanks everyone, it was a bad cap! Fortunatly I am in NW CT and was able to run up to A&L Auto Parts for a replacement. Running fine!
