Are all new 2 blade fans in the catalogs alike?

Hi all,
I am in the market for a new 2 blade fan offered in the Model A supply catalogs.
I see that Bratton's offers one for $50.40 and Mikes is $48.95, and Snyder's is $47.95 each.
Snyder's states that theirs is balanced in the description, but the others do not.
Are all the 2 blade fans for sale made by the same manufacturer?
Thank you in advance!
Jim in Minneapolis

I believe the aluminum fans are made by Synder's.

Nothing is wrong with a 4 blade, but my question is about the two blade.

Weren't there two types of four bladed fans? I have what I was told is a Henry original with an extra set of rivets around the hub..

Maybe snake oil..

2 blade aluminum...........no welds, no rivets, no bolts, and no sandwich of 2 layers.

DaWizard: "What is wrong with a 4 blade?"
-------------------------------------------

The 4-blade fans weigh more than the two blade fans. The extra weight of the 4-blade fan adds extra weight and wear on the shaft of the water pump. Additionally the rivets on the four-blade fan are one more possibility (some say problem) of fan failure.

Some Model A 'technical junkies' have performed tests that suggest that the 4-blade fan produces no more cooling than the stock two-blade fan, and that the two-blade fan is 100% efficient in cooling the Model A engine.

Of course, not everyone agrees with everything; and such is the case in the 4-blade verses 2-blade controversy. You WILL hear 'testimonials' about how much more efficient the 4-blade fan is to the 2-blade fan. But I prefer to defer to both the Ford Motor Company and the 'laboratory' tests that were done by later mechanical engineers who drove Ford Model A's.

That being said, while my stock '28 Phaeton has a Ford-Made two-blade fan (with an inch trimmed off each end, to reduce both weight and centrifugal 'G' force), for my '31 Coupe that has a 'souped up' Touring Engine, I have a six bladed plastic fan with aluminum hub - which some say is sort of a 'belt & suspenders' approach to cooling.

I do have a modern well-made aluminum 2-blade fan on the shelf, just in case I ever need to replace my existing original 2-blade fan.

For me the bottom line after achieving adequate cooling, is reducing weight and stress on shaft of my water pump.

Re: Are all new 2 blade fans in the catalogs alike?

you would think that the idea of a blade being slung off a 4-blade fan, no matter how many rivets, layers, etc, would scare the crap out of everyone on this forum, but what do I know.

must be the same ppl that try to outrun the train at a grade crossing

Re: Are all new 2 blade fans in the catalogs alike?

Well, I must admit, after doing a 30+ thread search on the fans and how dangerous they are, I am actively searching for a pulley and will be spending the fewer bucks to place an electric fan on my radiator.

Anyone know where I can find a top outlet with 2 holes for fittings? Now I have put a T in a single hole and had the temp sensor for the gauge out one side and a switch for the fan on the other, but that was also hidden behind the block of a Hemi where is was barely visible. Out in the open as this is, I am thinking maybe an outlet per side would be in order.

Why would you possibly put an electric fan on. Put on the two blade aluminum as the experts suggest. Why re-invent the wheel? Wayneu

There is no way of knowing if they are all made by the same company by looking at the pictures. Other than contacting vendors it is an uneducated guess at best! Wayne

Your statement is not correct. Do a search and you will change your mind. Wayne
