Evans waterless coolant
 

I've been running Evans waterless coolant for a year now and I like it. No rust in the engine, no overheating, it works well. However lately I have noticed coolant weeping through the radiator outlet gasket and around head bolts and some small amount in the oil pan. I'm hoping I don't have a cracked block or head. I haven't pulled the head yet. Because the leaks are very small and are located all over the engine and not in one spot I'm hoping it's not a crack. Does anyone have any experience with the Evans coolant acting like a penatrating oil and weeping through some types of gasket material.

No, it does not. You have a problem.

It's primarily propylene glycol, the same as Sierra coolant.

My car came with the Evan coolant. I had a head gasket leak and a leaky radiator. I sold the coolant and now use 50/50 normal antifreeze (for older cars) and water from my tap. (The water here is almost mineral free.)

The Evan coolant is an expensive alternative to the regular stuff. It is mostly used in race cars and high end vehicles. The advantage is that it does not boil until over 300 degrees, so no problem with boil overs. Plus, no rust because it does not contain any water. But I don't have a rust problem with the 50/50 mixture. I don't know of any liquid that has a higher specific heat than water, so it is the best for pulling heat from an engine.
